Our Story
Our Story
We may be a lot like you; busy lives, juggling obligations, family, finances, and working toward a better future for ourselves and loved ones. All while trying to keep sane and have a little fun along the way. Something we've talked about as a family is how we can also give back? We knew there were less fortunate people out there, without all the blessings or luck that we were born with. You can see them when you drive downtown close to home, and you can see them when you travel. We always knew we wanted to serve somehow, and probably in another country because we love to travel and it felt like that's where the biggest need was. Who, where, when? Those were questions we never got serious enough to answer. Then, after Megan and dad Mason joined another organization's service trip near Ensenada, Mexico, the seeds were planted. Mason and Jen returned for a vacation, and later, Jen with friends. Jen especially felt inspired to take action, and we would soon be intertwined with a little school and community that would capture our hearts.
It feels like all of a sudden, but 3 years later, we've established our own non-profit, and taken no less than ten trips, including bigger summer trips with 30 traveling volunteers each and many more helpers and donors at home, We've jumped for joy, shed tears of sadness and gratitude, been frustrated, and overwhelmingly hopeful. It's taken many hands to make this possible. It has been a lot of hard work, but the special people of Baja and their resilient, loving spirit makes it all worth it and more.
Thank you for letting us share this story with you.

Our Mission
At Teaching Amor, we believe that creating lasting change in underserved communities requires a holistic approach. Our four key areas of focus—Community Engagement, Educational Support, Health & Nutrition, and Love & Connection—work together to address the most critical needs of the families we serve. By combining these pillars, we not only provide immediate assistance but also foster long-term self-reliance, empowerment, and resilience within the community.
