When: July 7 - August 2 | Participants join for as many or as few days as they wish during this time. Service projects are Mon-Thurs, free days Fri-Sun.
Who: These are family friendly trips. Kids 8+ typically participate in some service, but younger children are welcome. We've found that teenagers and adults have the most impact, but there are no age restrictions.
Where: Most volunteers stay at one of the many short-term rentals (like Airbnb) somewhere on or near the beach. See the maps below. Our experience staying here has been excellent. Hosts are very welcoming, the area is safe and beautiful with plenty of optional activities nearby. A regular car is all you need to get around. The beach and the weather are absolutely wonderful!
What: Some of the projects and activities we are planning include:
Quincenera for girls and women
School or house construction
Basketball & Dance camps
Providing meals for kids
Community improvement projects
Beach Day / BBQ with local families
Cost: Teaching Amor collects a non-refundable $100 per person. This allows us to reserve your place and to more effectively plan our activities. The funds will go toward the projects we undertake during your trip, and will also provide you with a Teaching Amor hat or shirt that you will receive when you arrive in Mexico. Otherwise, you incur your own costs for the rest of the trip, including transportation, accommodation, food, and any optional activities or purchases you have. It is up to you how much you spend in these areas. We have many travel tips and lots of experience with typical costs that we can share.
How: Simply get in touch via email or phone. We will answer your questions and discuss how you can get the most out of joining us on a service trip. We occasionally schedule video calls for people to join and ask questions as well. Once you decide to come on a trip, let us know and we'll send you the link to reserve your place.
These trips are so much fun! We work hard, we play hard, we relax, and we laugh a lot. Many of us find it hard to hold back the tears when it is time to leave. If you want to create lasting memories while doing something that matters, consider joining us in 2025.
