2024
2024
Here are a few photos covering some 2024 summer trip highlights. Thank you so very much to the many volunteers who participated. We hope you know that your efforts have left a lasting impact.
There is always needed upkeep at the Yellow Castle School. We also like to find ways to beautify and enhance the environment for those who call it home.
It was time for the many years old water tank to go. The platform was rotting too, so we replaced them both.
Girls who never had the opportunity for a traditional Quincenera were invited to have one with us, complete with donated dresses from Utah. It can't be overstated how special it was to see these young women shine.
Sometimes we need to pause work and just play. A beautiful donation of hand-made dolls were a welcome gift for girls to cherish.
We invited a few families to join us at our beach house rental. The beach is 20 minutes away from where they live, yet most had never been. Unimaginable to us, but because resources are so limited, a beach day is not a luxury many can afford.
Out with the old and in with the new... Library! Butterfly themed, simple and clean, it is meant for a quiet place to read and learn. We will be adding more books over time.
Special thanks to the Petersen family who spearheaded the drive for musical instrument donations. The children at the school were thrilled!
We were invited to paint a mural on the wall of a nearby park. We created a little blue Teaching Amor house and incorporated sunflowers as a sign of work, hope, and progress.
Baja Ed invited us to be part of their annual graduation ceremonies. They were gracious enough to recognize Teaching Amor.
We always have a good time, whether with the kids and community or spending time together as volunteers. But good-bye is always the hardest part.
